Scorpios form close and intense relationships
with their pets. Once you have taken on the responsibility
of owning an animal, you see it as a lifelong commitment.
Your loyalty to your pets is absolute - and you expect absolute
loyalty in return. You espouse pet-owning with the same all-consuming
dedication with which you embrace anything which interests
you or matters to you. Your own substantial reserves of energy
mean that you have no qualms about going on long walks, grooming
long hair or taking on long-term responsibilities. Although
you tend not to display your emotions, nor wear your heart
on your sleeve, you will love your pet totally and, if it
is ill, nurse it back to health with tender loving care.
You like spirited, intelligent animals
who respond to training - and to you.
You expect obedience from your dogs and good behaviour from
your cats, and are prepared to work long and hard with them
to achieve it. Even so, you respect self-willed, independent
and self-confident animals. Your pets will always know precisely
where they stand with you, and you, in turn, will go to great
lengths to try to understand their actions and emotions.
The sign of Scorpio rules most insects
but, when it comes to keeping small pets, you would be better
off with a golden - or syrian – hamster. These gutsy
little Old World rodents are nocturnal creatures, very energetic
and prone to running several miles a night on an exercise
wheel. They are extremely jealous of other hamsters and must,
therefore, be kept singly.
Given the necessary time, money and facilities,
a pony makes a splendid Scorpio pet. Like you, they are very
sensitive to human emotions. They are also strong and wilful
and will take control of any situation if they get the chance.
They need access to plenty of grazing and a shelter if kept
outdoors. Although livery costs can be high, it is possible
to share ownership of a pony.
For dog-loving Scorpios, a dobermann
is a natural choice, being strong, forceful, loyal and possessive.
They make fearless guard dogs and are constantly on the alert.
They need plenty of exercise and must be thoroughly obedience
trained from an early age to control their aggressive streaks.
They are also prone to overeat.
Scorpios also tend to get on with siamese
cats who share their energy, intensity and perseverance. Sleek
and demanding, with athletic builds and blue eyes - which
shine red at night - they love being with humans, can be very
manipulative and, if unneutered, sexually precocious.
The suggestions above are merely guidelines
and in no way suggest that there is only one breed or type
of pet which is suitable for any one Zodiac sign. And it is,
of course, essential to know everything there is to know about
buying and keeping any pet before taking it home.
